For Derek's twelfth birthday, his father gives him a trip into the past in the "Templon" a highly experimental time travel machine. Things go terribly wrong, and they end up in pre-arthurian Brittain. Derek is captured by Vikings who turn him into a slave. He is rescued by his Father who has used his future knowledge to make himself Lord Karlon, Duke of Ravenvale. From their castle Ravenlock, they set out to re-build the Templon and get back to the future. If only they could build two Quantum Couplers in ancient England. To do that, they must change history a little.
